Made in Germany and Land der Dichter und Denker are two of many possible associations that come to mind when one thinks of Germany and other German-speaking countries. Bauhaus, Buchdruck, Bundesliga – Germany has been a leader in many different areas of life such as architecture, engineering, science, and sports, to name a few. A founding member of the European Union and the largest national economy in Europe, the Germany of today has been described as a political, social, and economic powerhouse. Learning German opens doors for working in some of Europe’s most prominent cultural and political centers, and for learning other Germanic languages like Swedish, Dutch, Norwegian, and Danish.
German is the gateway to a world-class higher education. The German language is among the ten most commonly spoken languages in the world. Many of the Western world’s most important works of philosophy, literature, music, art history, theology, psychology, chemistry, physics, engineering and medicine are written in German and continue to be produced in German.
