Nishith Prakash Joins Board of IDEA

Professor Nishith Prakash has been elected to the Board of the International Development Economics Association (IDEA), a newly founded global professional organization for development economists. Prakash’s research focuses on empowering human capital in low-income countries, spanning development economics, political economy, public policy, the economics of education, and behavioral economics.

Founded in 2026 by a Founding Board of 89 scholars from over 40 countries, IDEA is the first global professional association of its kind — open to all who work in or study development economics, regardless of career stage, country, intellectual tradition, or methodological approach. The 15-member Board, seated in April 2026, spans six continents.

IDEA is designed to be open and democratically governed, with particular focus on serving scholars in low- and middle-income countries who currently lack a comparable professional home.
