The Department of Economics at Northeastern focuses on the application of economics to real-world problems of policy and business.  Our students become skilled in analytical modeling, data analysis, and econometric estimation in the context of a wide range of exciting topics in applied microeconomics and macroeconomics.

Our undergraduate program features co-op work experience integrated with classroom studies and undergraduate research opportunities and prepares students for entry into the professional workforce as well graduate studies in economics and at professional schools in subjects such as law, business, and public policy. Our Master’s program, including our PlusOne program, provides students with advanced skills and experience necessary for professional advance in a broad range of careers.  Our Ph.D. program provides rigorous training with an applied emphasis and readies students for careers as professional economists in academia, policy institutions, government, data analysis and consulting.

I welcome you to learn more about economics and our department through our courses, events and research.  Our Economic Policy Forum series, which features prominent economists and experts speaking on important economic policy issues, will be of special interest to many.
