Blending Common Sense and Environmental Justice

The Common SENSES Project brings together Boston Area Research Initiative (BARI), Dudley Street Neighborhood Initiative (DSNI), Project RIGHT, Inc. and the City of Boston’s Office of Emerging Technology to pursue community data-driven environmental justice along Blue Hill Avenue. The partners recently facilitated a series of community events in Roxbury and Dorchester to co-design a network of environmental sensors as community infrastructure that will provide publicly available data on air quality, heat, and noise in the areas prioritized by participants. Ten sensors are already up and working and an additional 40 will be installed over Summer and into Fall 2025.
