Center Co-Hosts Oslo Workshop on the Future of Global Order
The Center for International Affairs and World Cultures co-hosted an international workshop in Oslo last week with the Norwegian Institute for International Affairs (NUPI). This workshop was part of Prof. Mai’a K. Davis Cross‘s multi-year project supported by Carnegie Corporation of New York on Transnational Networks and the Future of Global Order.
At the workshop, scholars discussed nine case studies of transnational networks that have sparked cooperative breakthroughs. The event also included two keynote events, which were open to the public, featuring Professor Iver Neumann on “Is international cooperation still possible?” and Alicia Sanders-Zakre from the International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons on “How to Achieve Nuclear Disarmament: Europe’s Role in Safeguarding the Future.” The latter took place at the Norwegian Nobel Institute and was introduced by Kristian Berg Harpviken, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute.
Prof. Cross also recently delivered two public lectures on her most recent work: “Space Diplomacy and the Transatlantic Relationship,” and “The European Union’s Grand Strategy.”
