    Change is Simple is dedicated to instilling lifelong social and environmental responsibility through experiential climate learning that inspires action for a healthy population, planet, and community. Our programming is designed to provide schools with in-person and engaging full-year series of STEM experiences that transform classrooms into construction zones and ecosystems, and students into engineers and scientists working toward a common goal- innovation for a better world.

    Each grade level receives their own unique programming so each students’ journey towards climate literacy is impactful, memorable, and fun! Students in the program understand why their everyday choices matter and are empowered to make choices that create a more sustainable lifestyle and future. Upon completing each of the dozens of units of education, students can see that they have a direct impact on their own health, and the health of their community and planet, while learning concrete ways to live healthier and more sustainably.

    Job Description:

    Our talented, creative, and energetic team of educators are the soul behind the organization. Lead Educators spend nearly every day during the school year traveling to schools in Eastern Massachusetts leading a variety of sustainability and climate change lessons to students in grades K-8. In addition to educating in schools, the position will include time at our Beverly, MA office working on program design, program materials, and other tasks relevant to a growing non-profit.

    We are seeking an individual who is passionate about inspiring the next generation of climate and sustainability-minded citizens and thrives on working towards this goal in a team setting. The ideal candidate will have a working understanding of sustainability, experience teaching to children, and a positive attitude towards learning new things. This position reports to the Director of Educational Programs and often collaborates directly with Executive Directors.

    Responsibilities

    Teaching (80%)

    • Teach and Co-Teach a variety of pre-developed lesson plans to students in schools throughout Eastern MA
    • Observe, shadow, and learn roughly 35 different workshops from training sessions, curriculum reading, and peer to peer observations
    • Provide feedback on and support the team with curriculum development and updates, as needed
    • Develop lesson plans for informal education settings (after school & summer programming)

    Projects and Administration (20%)

    • Prepare materials daily for programming
    • Provide feedback on, and support the development of curriculum and materials updates and repairs
    • Support program evaluations through collecting, sorting, and analyzing data
    • Represent the organization at Community Events (occasional nights & weekends)
    • Assist with the general needs of the organization including, but not limited to, event preparation, fundraising, outreach, etc.

    Qualifications:

    Required

    • Strong knowledge of STEAM based topics focused on: environmental education, sustainability, climate change, biology, food systems, natural resources, etc.
    • Concrete experience working with children aged K-8, preferably in a classroom setting
    • Ability to work cooperatively on a team and to take initiatives for independent work
    • Commitment to fostering and celebrating diversity and a willingness to creatively support all colleagues, program participants, and organization partners in this way
    • Valid Driver’s License with ability to commute to the Beverly office and surrounding schools in a personal and/or company vehicle
    • Favorable completion of CORI & SORI background check upon hire

    Preferred

    • Personal dedication towards understanding and practicing a sustainable lifestyle
    • Positive and cheerful customer service skills
    • Problem solving skills and ability to adapt in changing circumstances
    • Strong computer and skills including Google Suit, graphic design skills is a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Fluency in spanish or other languages
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 30 lbs of equipment up and down 30+ stairs and traverse through unstable terrain.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $49,000 + Bonus opportunities
