Academic and Professional Journey
Nolwen Hauray is a Criminal Justice major with a minor in International Affairs at Northeastern University. Her academic and co-op experiences have shaped a strong interest in pursuing a legal career, with a long-term goal of working in international and human rights law.
Nolwen completed her first co-op with the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office as a Legal Assistant in the Juvenile Unit. In this role, she supported attorneys through administrative work, legal research, and motion drafting, and had the opportunity to assist during a trial. This experience solidified her interest in the legal field and provided valuable exposure to courtroom processes.
Her second co-op took place at Jones Kelleher LLP, where she served as a Legal Office Assistant. There, she supported case filing, summarized depositions, and handled client correspondence. Together, these experiences confirmed her interest in attending law school and helped clarify her goal of working as a Legal Assistant prior to applying.
Leadership and Engagement
Nolwen currently serves as Vice President of Northeastern’s Criminal Justice Honor Society, where she has helped organize guest speaker events and lead fundraising efforts for organizations aligned with the group’s mission. She plans to continue this work through graduation.
Coursework and Career Goals
Nolwen credits Criminal Due Process and Criminal Law, taught by Professor Larsen, with significantly strengthening her legal writing and case law knowledge, which directly supported her success during both co-ops. She also completed International Human Rights Law and Policy, taught by Professor Miller, a course that influenced her goal of pursuing a career in international and human rights law.
Looking Ahead
Nolwen plans to pursue a career as a Legal Assistant before applying to law school and is eager to build on the skills and experiences gained through Northeastern’s co-op program.
