Welcome to Northeastern University’s College of Social Sciences and Humanities Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies Program!

The WGSS program at Northeastern offers an interdisciplinary minor for undergraduate students from all departments and colleges to complement their major program of study. Graduate students enrolled in an MA or Phd will also find a robust complementary certificate program. Our more than 50 affiliated faculty come from more than 15 departments at Northeastern and are engaged in a wide range of scholarly research and interdisciplinary teaching.

The WGSS program is also the proud home of Signs: Journal of Women in Culture and Societythe leading international journal in feminist studies, where I serve as the Editor-in Chief and Prof. Carla Kaplan of WGSS; Cultures, Societies, and Global Studies; English serves as the Chair of the Board of Associate Editors. We have a vibrant public presence, including an annual Women’s History Month symposium, periodic lectures and film screenings, collaborative research clusters on everything from gender and incarceration to sexual citizenship, and a visiting scholars program. Northeastern’s WGSS program is a burgeoning locus for feminist and gender studies, and works collaboratively with the Boston area Consortium for Graduate Studies in Gender, Culture, Women, and Sexuality to engage students, faculty, and community members in a diverse range of feminist issues and concerns. We hope you will explore our website to see the wide range of what we have to offer and that you’ll consider joining our community of interdisciplinary students and scholars as you pursue your educational goals.

Sincerely,

Suzanna Walters
