Arts Graduates Thrive in Hubs: New Study by NU Professors and Alum

People in this story

Congratulations to Emeritus Professors Neil Alper, Gregory Wassall, and NU Econ PhD alum Richard Paulsen on their recent publication in the June 2024 issue of Economics of Innovation and New Technology.

Their paper, “Agglomeration and the Success of Arts Majors Working in Entrepreneurship and Innovation,” explores how living or working in creative and entrepreneurial hubs impacts the careers and success of arts graduates.

Utilizing American Community Survey data, the study finds that proximity to such ‘hubs’ significantly increases the likelihood of arts graduates thriving in entrepreneurial and innovative industries, highlighting the powerful influence of agglomeration on productivity and success.
