Each year the Policy School sponsors, as part of its collaboration with the Masschusetts Historical Society, The Professor Ted Landsmark “Good Trouble” Award for the Best Project in Civil Rights History, as part of the annual Massachusetts National History Day (NHD) competition. NHD is similar to a science fair but for history and involves youth across the U.S. In 2025, the winners are two eighth-grade students of history teacher Jason Levy from the Ottoson Middle School in Arlington. Adrianna Balderas and Sara Lay won the junior group website category at the state level with their project entitled “Plyler v. Doe: Securing the Constitutional Right to Education for Undocumented Children.” They will compete in the National History Day Contest in Washington, DC in June.
