    Summary:

     

    The position is in the Department of Community & Regional Planning (DCRP) and the position is at the Assistant Profession level (tenure-track status is negotiable). The overall responsibilities include research, teaching and service. Expertise in urban and regional planning practice, particularly in environmental planning and/or scholarship required. Preferred candidates should demonstrate a commitment to the values in the current Curriculum Standard of the Planning Accreditation Board, including equity, diversity, social justice, and inclusion; sustainability, resilience, and climate justice; and professional ethics and responsibility.

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

     

     

    • Support both DCRP’s Bachelor of Science in Urban Planning and the Masters of Urban and Regional Planning programs curricula.
    • Develop and maintain a vibrant research agenda with the potential to obtain external funding.
    • Develop and submit grant applications and research papers to peer-reviewed journals.
    • Assist with recruitment.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    • Function effectively across disciplines integral to environmental planning and climate change;
    • Productively engage teaching and research in areas of environmental justice, sustainable development, climate resilience planning, natural resources management, site planning, urban infrastructure, urban ecology, and/or land use planning;
    • Participate in the continuing development of the programs and their curricula;

     

    Requirements:

     

    Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.):

    • PhD in Urban Planning with expertise in environmental planning, at the time of application or be able to provide assurance of a PhD prior to appointment (ABD candidates will be considered if all degree requirements are complete by June 2024. Candidate must have completed at least 18 semester credit hours of graduate level courses in urban & regional planning.
    • At least 1 to 3 years teaching experience at the college/university level
    • Professional certifications or experience in designing and teaching online courses
    • Strong quantitative and qualitative skill set
    • Demonstrated proficiency in geospatial analysis
