Professor Eric Piza Named Lipman Family Professor of Criminology

Eric Piza, Professor of Criminology and Criminal Justice and Director of Crime Analysis Initiatives, has been appointed the Lipman Family Professor of Criminology at Northeastern University’s School of Criminology and Criminal Justice.

Dr. Piza’s research focuses on the intersection of crime analysis, policing, and security, emphasizing the integration of academic insights with practical applications in law enforcement.

As he assumes this role, Dr. Piza is engaged in several research partnerships with law enforcement agencies nationwide, aimed at advancing the study of policing practices and crime. His projects include examining use of force training with the Colorado Springs Police Department, analyzing shooting investigations with the New Jersey State Police, and collaborating with the Kansas City Police Department to improve police-citizen interactions.
