Hannah Egert’s interest in criminal justice began in her first semester at Northeastern, when she took CRIM1400: Human Trafficking. The course introduced her to the field and strongly aligned with her desire to help others and create meaningful change.
She went on to complete two impactful co-ops. At the Northeastern University Police Department, she worked with the Investigations and Special Operations Unit, gaining hands-on exposure to investigative work. She later joined the Department of Homeland Security’s Human Smuggling and Trafficking Unit, where her experience further solidified her interest in federal law enforcement and strengthened her commitment to combating trafficking and smuggling.

Her selection reflects her involvement with the Northeastern University Police Department, participation in Relay For Life through the American Cancer Society, and dedication to mentoring peers interested in criminal justice careers.
She currently serves as President of the Criminal Justice Honor Society, where she helps students build professional connections, develop leadership skills, and prepare for careers in public service.

They have taught me how to think critically, communicate effectively, and apply classroom knowledge to real-world challenges. These experiences have shaped my passion for federal law enforcement and strengthened my commitment to preventing human trafficking and smuggling.”
