Brazil is a giant country with a lot of heart and personality! On this dialogue, you will explore Brazil through it’s three capitals. Salvador, the first capital, was one of the first places explored by the Portuguese and also one of the first ports of entry for the slave trade. This area remains, to this day, a vibrant place with Afro-Brazilian culture. Rio de Janeiro, the second capital, needs no introduction, and it is what most think of when they think about the country. Besides the touristic highlights, we will also get an insider’s look into this city. Brasilia, the current capital, will show us the marvels of a city created in the middle of nowhere to be a ‘planned.’ See how this engineering marvel ticks and see the successes and challenges of taking Brazil to new heights. And don’t forget! You’ll have many opportunities to practice your Portuguese from ordering some pão de queijo, to negotiating at a market, to discussing cultural differences with Brazilian students.
