Apply for a Global Spotlight Symposium
Thank you for your interest in the CIAWC’s Global Spotlight Symposium program. The application deadline has passed. Please check back in Spring 2026 for future deadlines.
(Applications should include a detailed budget in excel, a project description, and timeline).
Each year, the Center will feature a Global Spotlight Symposium. Applications should be for projects that are nearing publication, dissemination, or grant proposals. The Center will co-host a workshop for the Project and provide publicity and outreach. In this context, a workshop is a structured convening with multiple panels and presentations where a group of around 6-8 scholars comes together to collaboratively present their research on a specific topic or problem with the aim of publishing a special journal issue, edited volume, or similar. The event may last 1-2 consecutive days.
The Global Spotlight Symposium will be funded up to $8,000. The Center will provide administrative support and space for the project’s workshop/event. The primary convener, and lead name on the application, must be a full-time faculty member in CSSH. Outside participants may be invited to attend. We strongly encourage applications that have co-sponsorship from other institutions, centers, or departments. We anticipate that funds will be used to convene participants in Boston, and may include meals, dissemination of materials, travel, lodging, equipment.
