Join the Center for International Affairs and World Cultures and Norwegian Institute for International Affairs for a livestreamed keynote address from Oslo on, “Is international Cooperation still possible?” featuring Iver B. Neumann, Director of the Fridtjof Nansen Institute, as part of CIAWC’s Carnegie-funded project on transnational networks.

The keynote, followed by panel discussion (including Prof. Mai’a K. Davis Cross), is accessible here: NUPI’s YouTube channel on October 16th, 2025, 9:00-10:30am Oslo time (Central European Summer Time) (recording available later). No registration is required—just tune in!

This seminar discusses the power and possibility for international cooperation with a focus on the role of transnational networks in galvanizing change.

  1. In an age of polarization and geopolitical competition – how are breakthroughs in international cooperation possible?
  2. In what policy areas do we see the most potential and progress?
  3. And what are the key catalysts for these breakthroughs – how may international cooperation be achieved?

After Professor Neumann’s talk, he will engage in a moderated discussion with Cross, Director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute Professor Kristian Berg Harpviken, Associate Professor Katharina Glaab (Norwegian Institute of Life Sciences), and Research Professor Marianne Riddervold (NUPI and ARENA – Centre for European Studies at the University of Oslo).

The conversation will be moderated by Halvard Leira, Research Director at NUPI.

The seminar is part of the Carnegie-funded project, “Transnational Networks and the Future of Global Order,” led by Mai’a K. Davis Cross, Center for International Affairs and World Cultures at Northeastern University in cooperation with NUPI.
