Minor in French
Bienvenue à Northeastern University
French is unique, romantic, passionate and a beautiful language that is often called the language of love. Knowing French can also help you learn other Romance languages, such as Spanish, Italian, or Portuguese, and can even help you better understand English: over 30% of the English language is derived from French. When people think about France, many things come to mind such as the baguette, wine, Paris, the countryside, the Alps, and the amazing food culture.
French is one of the most important languages in the world. It is the official language of the United Nations, the European Union, NATO, the World Trade Organization and many more. It is spoken by over 300 million people worldwide.
By studying French at Northeastern, you can fulfill the University’s language requirement, study abroad (in France or other Francophone countries), go on a Dialogue of Civilizations in France, or pursue an academic minor in French.
